INTERIOR vs EXTERIOR ON ORNAMENTATION
I might relate this quote: "Don't judge a book by its cover" to Loos' ideal philosophy.
And the greatest evidence would be Villa Muller which marked Loos' pitching point of success in the late of his career. By analysing all the plans, a typical section and the opposite elevation, one would be able to define what is more important than the other.
For Loos, the interior is where functions and activities of a family will take place therefore it would be appropriate to enrich their everyday life by lots of ornamentation from the use of materials, furniture, lightings, the Raumplan, circulation and even the details of openings...
Many say that Loos consider interior as feminine and the exterior is masculine, and I would like to agree with this notion.
